Mad Dozza’s Blog

Well finally i have setup a blog, i suppose it’s a bit late to jump on the band waggon, in-fact i think the waggon had evolved into a car by now, but what the heck i have never been known for following popular trends (well not straight away anyway).

I have looked into various ways to do this blog, from the simple sign up and blog solutions such as www.blogger.com to hosting it on a normal web host. I decided on a DIY approach as i wanted to be in full control of the software, templates, stats, etc so i would also learn the technical side of running blogs. Learning stuff is a passion for me.

- My first step was to find a good web host, this was easy as i have a few sites running with a UK/US company www.unitedhosting.co.uk and i can honestly say they have been the best hosting company i have ever used.
- I registered the host-name www.maddozza.com and added this sub-domain blog.maddozza.com to it to host my blog, i plan on letting others host blogs here too which is why i have not hosting it under the www.maddozza.com address.
- I then created an MySQL database for the site with my hosting company.
- My next step was finding and installing good blogging software, i could have written my own but decided that Wordpress did everything i needed, was very well supported and used extensively. I uploaded and installed Wordpress in minutes, it was very straight forward.
- I chose a Wordpress theme that looked good, then tweaked it a little for better SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Job done, now all i have to do is keep Wordpress up to date and make sure i post regular entries (which shouldn’t be hard as i always have something to moan about, or explain).
