Electronics project - USB interface

During a trip to my local Maplin electronics shop for some cable, i got side tracked and noticed a really good project kit to build a USB interface card for a PC. It must have been over 6 years since i last did any electronics but over the last few months i have been considering doing some just to refresh my knowledge. After all it’s a skill that comes in handy and one that is dying out in the hobby arena. The only reason i didn’t leave the shop with the kit was the price, i really didn’t have £30 to spend and thought i might be able to get it cheaper from the Internet. By the time i got home i had realised that i could build this kit no problem, write a great program to get it working, but what on earth would i use it to monitor or control?!?!

Once i come up with an idea then i will buy and build this kit as i really do want to keep my hand in with electronics. It may be some time though as ideas are not my strong point.

For anyone interested the kit is a Velleman kit number VM110
