Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham
Yesterday evening, after work, me and Mrs Dozza decided to go to the German market which is held every year in Birmingham city center, i had never been before and didn’t quite know what to expect. We walked from the train station up to New Street where it began, we were greeted by an outdoor bar selling Weiser Bier and German lagers which seemed very popular, but we carried on in search of food. The food options were quite varied from garlic bread to German sausage and there were enough
sweet sellers to keep even the sweetest of sweet toothed person happy. I was pleased to see various bars selling mulled wine, lagers, hot chololates and i even found some real ale. The stalls sold various goods, the predominant ones being silly hats, jewelry, candles and ornaments. There was a very good atmosphere, a good mixture of tourists, business folk and Christmas shoppers keen to find that special present not available in the shops. My only criticism of the event was the bussle around the food areas, on countless occasions i narrowly avoided having my cup of mulled wine knocked out of my hands (oh the thought of it),
also there seemed to be 3 of each stall in different locations which became a little confusing. But overall it was a really nice evening out, the Christmas spirit was evident and the lights, smells and music just added to a very fun evening. The price of goods and food was quite high, so don’t expect a bargain, but as there were no entry fees etc. you could happily spend as much or as little as you wanted. I would definitely recommend a visit, i will be going again next year.
