Getting traffic to your new blog.

As i am new to blogging i have spent a bit of time recently learning how to get traffic to my blog, i thought i would share my strategy with you:

1. My first step was Adding a sitemap for the search engines and registering the site with both Google and Yahoo site managers:  Webmaster Tools and Site Explorer i was lucky enough to get listed in Google within a few days, but obviously my rankings were low even for very specific terms. More links are needed to improve this.

2. Until i get to 12 articles i just plan on getting the odd few links every day. The way i am doing this is from commenting on other peoples (do-follow) blogs, this is proving addictive and a good insight into blog layouts.

3. When i finally get my 12 articles written i plan to get bookmarks from the social bookmark sites such as the ones listed below this article, this should bring visitors and give me extra links which will improve my Google rankings.

4. I will then submit my site to a few hundred directories to increase my link count and search engine rankings.

5. Hopefully by then i will have attained a Google page rank and will be able to bargain with other site owners for link exchanges, this will provide relevant links and hence better Google Page Rank and search engine rankings.

6. During the 5 steps above i will continue to add articles and comment on other people blogs.

7. Occasionally i will repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 as required.

I will keep you informed of my progress.
