Music Festivals 2008 - Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds and V

Well it’s the new year, the nights are getting longer and my thoughts are turning towards music festivals, after all registration for Glastonbury starts next month and the season kick off in May so it won’t be long now.

The main 3 festivals in the UK are Glastonbury Festival, Reading/Leeds Festival and V Festival. There are lots of other festivals but these are probably the most popular.

Glastonbury Festival 2008: (Pilton, Somerset)
The festival takes place 25th - 30th June. Wednesday and Thursday the main stages of the festival are not open but the rest of the festival site is, so get there early, see the sites, visit the cider bus and explore the festival before the main crowd get there. The Monday is the leaving day with no entertainment, but you can still get limited food, drink and goods inside the fence, a day of traffic jams and hang overs. In order to buy tickets for the festival you have to register during February either online or by post, details can be found on the official Glastonbury site. Anyone not registered cannot buy tickets. The date for the actual festival ticket sales will be Sunday April 6th at 9am and i believe it will be handled by see tickets again this year. Festival tickets will be sold online and by phone for details check the official Glastonbury site, or eFestivals closer to the date.

Reading Festival / Leeds Festival 2008:
Reading Festival was originally based on 1 site in Reading, but now it has the same festival running in parallel in Leeds hence the Leeds Festival. This year the dates for the festivals are 21st - 25th August, it is possible to get early entry passes so you can get there a day earlier and camp. Monday 25th (a bank holiday) is the day most people leave, there is no entertainment on this day. Tickets for the festival are expected to go on sale March/April time, for more information see either the official Reading Festival site, the Leeds Festival site, or as usual eFestivals

V Festival 2008:
The V festival is also run over 2 sites, one in Chelmsford and the other in Staffordshire. The dates for this years festival are 15th and 18th August, if you have camping tickets you can arrive on the 15th although there will be no bands that day. Monday 18th is the day everyone goes home, there are also no bands on this day. Tickets for the festival are expected to go on sale March/April time, for more information see either the official V Festival site, or as usual eFestivals

See other posts in the music festivals section for more information closer to the day.
