My Paypal Account was Hacked
I think i am cautious to the point of paranoid about giving details online, but a few months back my Paypal account was hacked. To this day i honestly don’t know how. The password i used was unique to Paypal, i never log-in to Paypal on computers that are not mine, and i did a full sweep for Trojans etc and found nothing.
It was a bank holiday weekend in the UK, normally i would have been away for the weekend, but luckily i was at home. At about midday on the Saturday i checked my email and found 6 transaction emails from Paypal, i logged into my account and found there were 6 transactions totalling about $250 for various online game sites and computer game suppliers. I immediately changed my password on Paypal (and being my usual cautious self i changed ever password i used for anything important), then i called Paypal to report it. They were very helpful and said they would look into it and refund the money within 30 days if the transactions were dodgy. I also notified my credit company and they offered to do a charge back (a procedure where they give you the money back and investigate the transactions themselves) i said this not necessary at the time as Paypal seemed to be looking into it. 24 hours later i had 5 emails from Paypal saying 5 transactions were found to be fraudulent and gave me a refund on them, then a few days later i got the final email from Paypal refunding the 6th transaction.
Paypal were very helpful and professional with this issue, which has given me great confidence in the company so i am still customer of theirs.
Since that i have used Paypal many times and never had a repeat of the problems.

new blog.. good design!!
