phpBay Pro – eBay auctions on your website.
There is a big money making technique being used at the moment where auction ads are pulled from eBay and displayed on niche websites, most of which are designed specifically to look like a shop. There are lots of products on eBay that people would not necessarily associate with eBay, so in this situation people do a web search for the product and look for shops selling what they want to buy. If the shop leads them to eBay they are not worried because they are happy they have found the product they needed.
The system works by adding a 7 day cookie to the person computer who clicked on any of the auction items in you site, so if anyone uses that computer to purchase anything off eBay within the 7 days you get commission from it. Also if someone registers with eBay and makes a bid you get a nice sign up bonus.
To get up and running you need to do the following:
- Create a new website using PHP, or make some space on a current PHP based website or blog.
- Purchase the phpBay Pro software from wiredstudios.com
- Using the simple instructions add auction adverts to your site.
- Sign up with Commission Junction
- Apply (Via Commission Junction) to be an eBay affiliate, pick what ever country you wish to target.
- Once accepted get your PID from Commission Junction and add it to the ebay.php file (which comes with phpBay Pro).
- After a while you should see clicks in your Commission Junction stats, followed by money.
- For a US eBay affiliate you get about 50% of ebay’s fees as commission, plus you get a nice $25 bonus for anyone who signs up with eBay and makes a bid.
The other bonus of using phpBay Pro is the feeds from eBay count as content for your site, so the search engines really love it.

I have been reading this blog for a while now, and I thought it would be proper to leave a note of appreciation here.
Many Thanks,
Jim Mirkalami
Thanks Jim, good to know i have some readers.
Is this like BANS?
Yes, but in my opinion far better.
I have not yet tried the BANS software, but had to make a decision to get BANS or phpBay Pro and I went with the phpBay Pro.
It seems pretty easy to use (just started a site) and hopefully will make me some commissions.
Have you made any money with this software?
I would have to agree with Mad, it’s way better then BANS.
Yeah, not enough to give up my job, but enough to pay for hosting for all my other sites.
I’ve been debating whether to go with BANS or phpbay also – I just about 5 positive reviews on phpbay, and to me the BANS method wont last long, so I think I’m going to try phpbay
Great writeup, I’ve been considering BANs but as of recently with the Google slap and changes to the algorithm it has been tough to rank for BAN sites. I have some ideas on how to get around that but still need to do some research. Thanks for the write up.
I came through google looking for clarification of the length of eBay’s cookie, im gonna leave knowing about PHPbay, ive tried BANS before but read a whole bunch of negative stuff about it lately. Ebay has a lucrative affilaite program that i justt dont want to ignore, thanks for the heads up dude.
phpBay Pro looks like a great soft. A friend of mine (eBay affiliate) have around 100 websites filled with eBay products. I will tell him about the script, hope he can make his life easier.
what the different with BANS?
This is all good BUT you will need some actual proper content to go alongside all your product listings otherwise surely Google will block your Ebay niche site, right? Thats my experience with BANS in most cases.
@Steve
What specific method does BANS use that makes you think it wont last long?
I’ve heard a great deal of affiliate marketeers/SEO’s give the thumbs up on phpbay. Am considering both options.
Wasn’t BANS the system the DigitalPoint admin abused by stuffing cookies on all his visitors computers?
Great information. I’ve just recently started reading your blog but it has had loads of great information.
The difference between BANS and PHP Pro is the footprint – If you install BANS out of the box and do not make any modifications your site will most likely get de-indexed, especially if you have products on the home page.
I have about 10 php pro sites and about 30 BANS that bring me an average of a grand a month – the majority comes from BANS though, and be careful, Google will de-index your php pro sites too with no remorse – I had a nice PR-4 php site making me killer money – then it was gone from Google, along with a couple hundred a month I was getting from Google search traffic
Thanks for the tip. Ebay rocks.
Sounds interesting… I might have to just try this. Thanks for the information.
I got an online shop at ebay and heard about this though I haven’t tried. You think this is really effective?
